Did you know that loving yourself is a biblical command? ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’? Today discover the connection between self-love and our capacity to love others in this message from Pastor Josh. Drawing from Mark 12 and Philippians 3, we learn that loving ourselves is not only beneficial but essential for our spiritual growth and relationships. The sermon unpacks the biblical truth that we are ‘wonderfully complex’ and ‘marvelously made,’ as stated in Psalm 139, and that our worth is defined by Christ alone. By setting spiritual goals and focusing on our purpose, we can move past our mistakes and press forward towards our heavenly goal. In this series “It’s Not Complicated” we will learn what the Bible teaches about having a proper relationship with God and why that is essential to healthy relationships with others and ourselves!

In our final discussion on relationships, we explore the importance of loving God and our neighbors. Reflecting on past relationships helps us understand our shortcomings and the need for preparation. The parable of the Good Samaritan teaches us to show mercy to everyone, while true rest in Jesus refreshes us for better relationships. By engaging in practices like prayer, worship, and community, we can serve others from a place of overflow, continuously reflecting, refreshing, and reengaging in our relationships.

Are you trusting God to lead you forward, or relying on your own way? Join Church on the Rock as we embark on ‘The Move,’ a transformative discipleship journey inspired by Psalm 143:10. This initiative encourages us to reflect on our influence, lifestyle, generosity, and legacy as followers of Christ. With a goal of 100% participation, we invite everyone to trust God’s will over their own. Discover personal testimonies of transformation, the power of community engagement, and our commitment to the next generation. Learn how we are extending our reach through local and international missions, partnering with organizations to serve those in need.

Welcome to Church on the Rock! We’re in part two of our five-part series, ‘The Move,’ where we explore God’s call for us over the next two years. This journey will focus on discipleship and obedience as we follow His will. God is already moving in our church, transforming lives, and we’re excited to be part of His ongoing work.

Today’s message is about aligning our hearts with God’s will, not our own, and embracing our role in shining His light to the world. We’re asking for 100% participation, both in discipleship and generosity, as we embark on this journey together. Let’s unite in faith and action, allowing God to lead us forward on a firm foundation.

Join us as we go into part three of our transformative five-part series, “The MOVE”. This series, inspired by Psalm 143:10, encourages each of us to say, “Teach me to do Your will.” In today’s message, we tackle the often difficult but essential topic of generosity and stewardship with a spirit-led approach, aligning our financial priorities with God’s preeminence in our lives.

We’ll explore Jesus’ words in Matthew 6 on money, the principle of tithing, and the concept of giving our “first and best” back to God, not because He needs it but because our hearts are transformed in the process. Through reflection and prayer, let’s step into a deeper relationship with God, trusting in His promises to lead us on a firm footing.

Are you ready to prepare the way for God’s move in your life? Reflect on your influence, lifestyle, generosity, and legacy. Let’s dig ditches and trust God to fill them!

In this message, we look at four key areas where we can prepare the way for the Lord’s move in our lives: influence, lifestyle, generosity, and legacy. Through the story of John the Baptist, we see a beautiful representation of what it means to be a humble messenger, preparing the way for Jesus. John’s life reminds us that our role is not to be the source of hope but to point others to Christ.

This message looks at the Apostle Paul’s teaching to Timothy on the balance of faith, money, and obedience, diving into the richness of godliness with contentment, and how true wealth is found in living for eternal impact.

Pastor Josh reminds us that while money is a tool in our discipleship journey, it’s about so much more. We’re called to live generously and steward all God has blessed us with, pursuing a life of faith, obedience, and contentment. Reflecting on personal stories of financial highs and lows, Pastor Josh challenges us to view our resources as tools to further God’s kingdom and serve others.

How does the creation story in Genesis reveal God’s plan for us? In this message, Larry McCall shares the first part of a two-week series on Spiritual Warfare. As he steps in for Pastor Josh, Larry explores the battle between walking in the Spirit and succumbing to the flesh, rooted in God’s grand design for mankind.

We’re diving into the reality of spiritual battles—both internal and external—and learning how to stand firm in God’s power, putting on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18): 1. Belt of Truth 2. Breastplate of Righteousness 3. Shoes of Peace 4. Shield of Faith 5. Helmet of Salvation 6. Sword of the Spirit

How can we embrace God’s presence like Mary did? Mary’s encounter with the angel Gabriel teaches us about embracing God’s presence and trusting His plan. Despite the challenges and uncertainties, Mary responded with faith and obedience, saying, ‘I am the Lord’s servant.’ This story encourages us to trust God fully, even when it comes with a high cost, and to cultivate an informed faith that deepens our relationship with Him.

Today we look at lessons from Joseph’s obedience in the Christmas story. Often overshadowed, Joseph played a crucial role in Jesus’ birth and early life. Faced with societal pressures and personal fears, Joseph chose to follow God’s command to marry Mary and raise Jesus. His righteousness, trust in God’s plan, and willingness to embrace challenges serve as a powerful example of selfless obedience. Learn how Joseph’s story teaches us to prioritize God’s will over personal comfort, trust in His greater purpose, and support others in their times of need.

Are you trusting God’s word or relying on your own understanding? In the new series ‘Christmas Presence,’ we look at the lives of key figures from the original Christmas story, starting with Zechariah. Zechariah, a priest, and his wife Elizabeth longed for a child but were unable to conceive. An angel visited Zechariah, announcing that Elizabeth would bear a son named John, who would prepare the way for Jesus. Despite this miraculous message, Zechariah doubted due to their old age and was rendered mute until John’s birth. This story highlights the importance of trusting God’s word and the consequences of doubt. Zechariah’s journey teaches us that obedience to God’s word amplifies our influence, while doubt can silence it. As we prepare for Christmas, let us commit to trusting God’s word and walking in obedience, experiencing His presence and influence in our lives.

In this 8-part series, Pastor Josh explores what it means to have a teachable spirit, what gets in the way of being taught by the Lord, the importance of being receptive, and some of the means God uses to teach us to do his will.

In this message, we go to John 13, exploring the humility of Jesus and the power of living with a teachable spirit. As part of our 21 Days of Prayer, we focus on aligning our walk with God’s will, cleansing our “feet” as we navigate the challenges of life. Jesus’ act of washing the disciples’ feet, including Judas’, highlights the call to serve others with love, humility, and forgiveness—even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable.

Learn practical ways to engage with God’s Word, grow in your faith, and carry one another’s burdens as the body of Christ. Whether through bringing your Bible, utilizing the YouVersion app, or reflecting on the powerful example of Jesus, this message invites you to surrender all and walk in obedience.

In this message we look at what it means to fully submit to God’s will and embrace Jesus not only as our Savior but as our Lord, with total control in every area of our lives.

You’ll hear practical insights about:

✔️ Discipleship and spiritual growth

✔️ The freedom found in submitting to God’s plan

✔️ Forgiveness and living in alignment with Christ’s example

✔️ Understanding Jesus as our humble, gentle teacher and Lord

Whether you’re taking your first step of faith or seeking to go deeper, this message is for you!

Do we truly see God’s Word for the immense value it holds for our hearts and lives? Today, Pastor Josh continues our Teach Me series with a powerful message, Teach Me By Your Word.

In this sermon, we look to how God’s Word is not only good for us but also provides practical applications for every area of our lives. From teaching and correcting to equipping us for every good work, Scripture is a gift meant to transform us.

We’ll also look at Genesis 1 to see how God’s Word brings order and light into the chaos and darkness of our lives, just as it did in the beginning of creation.

Let this message inspire you to embrace the power of God’s Word and allow it to lead, guide, and transform your life!

In this 8-part series, Pastor Josh explores what it means to have a teachable spirit, what gets in the way of being taught by the Lord, the importance of being receptive, and some of the means God uses to teach us to do his will.

By the Holy Spirit:

1. Through the Holy Spirit, we learn God’s thoughts.
2. Through the Holy Spirit, He guides us.
3. Through the Holy Spirit, the Truth is revealed.

Life is full of ups and downs, but every experience—good or bad—can be a powerful teacher in our spiritual journey. Throughout Scripture, we see how God used imperfect people like David, Moses, and Peter to fulfill His perfect will. No mistake or hardship is too big for His redemptive power!

In this message, we’ll explore how the Holy Spirit empowers believers to go beyond human limitations and how challenges shape our endurance, character, and faith. No matter your past, God can turn your story into a testimony for His glory.

Are you fighting the right battles? Too often, we struggle against people, circumstances, or even ourselves—when the real enemy is unseen. Spiritual warfare is real, and if we don’t recognize it, we risk fighting the wrong fight and losing ground in our faith.

The enemy carefully studies our weaknesses, our emotions, and our relationships, seeking ways to derail our purpose. But God has already equipped us with everything we need to stand firm! Victory comes when we shift our focus from fighting people to recognizing the spiritual forces at work and taking authority through Christ.

Ephesians 6:10-18 – “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.”

Is what you believe actually true? Satan’s greatest weapon isn’t temptation—it’s deception. In this message, we unpack the importance of truth in spiritual warfare and how the enemy actively works to manipulate, deceive, and destroy lives.

Truth isn’t just an idea; it’s a person—Jesus Christ. He is our foundation and protection against the enemy’s schemes.

When we recognize and replace the enemy’s lies with God’s truth, we walk in spiritual victory and authentic faith. Are you ready to fight deception with truth? Watch now!

Are you worn out from trying to be “good enough” for God? In this message from our Battle Rattle series on the armor of God, we go into the Breastplate of Righteousness—a powerful truth that can set you free.

Righteousness isn’t something we achieve through effort; it’s something we receive through Christ. When we try to earn it, we either fall into self-righteousness or self-condemnation. But when we understand that Christ’s righteousness has been credited to us, we can walk in confidence, security, and grace.

In this message, we unpack what it really means to share your faith and why it’s a vital part of your spiritual journey. Just like Roman soldiers wore cleats to move forward in battle, we’re called to move forward with the gospel—not stand still in our faith.

Many believers struggle with sharing their faith because of fear: fear of rejection, judgment, or simply not knowing what to say. But the truth is, evangelism isn’t about having all the right answers—it’s about sharing what Jesus has done in your life. You don’t need a theology degree to make an eternal impact—just a willing heart and a personal story.

Is your spiritual shield strong enough for today’s battles?

The shield of faith serves as vital spiritual protection against life’s challenges and spiritual warfare. This protective shield works through active faith in Christ, operating not just as mere belief but as a dynamic relationship with God. Through consistent prayer, claiming God’s promises, and standing firm in community with other believers, this shield becomes stronger. When facing spiritual attacks, whether through doubt, pain, or unexpected challenges, this divine protection remains steadfast, empowered by Jesus’s continuous intercession.

Most spiritual battles are fought—and won or lost—in the mind. The enemy doesn’t always come with force… he comes with lies. Doubts. Shame. Twisted truth. But God has given us a powerful defense: The Helmet of Salvation.

In this message, we look into what it really means to protect your mind with salvation. It’s more than a one-time decision—it’s a daily transformation of your thinking.

In a world full of spiritual battles, there’s one weapon you can’t afford to leave behind—the Sword of the Spirit: God’s Word. This sermon looks into how Scripture isn’t just a book—it’s your most powerful tool for victory.

Life or death — what would you choose? It seems like an easy question, but Jesus chose death so that we could have life.

This Easter message explores the essence of that choice: a love so unwavering that it endured public humiliation, 39 lashes, a crown of thorns, and the cross. From Palm Sunday’s cheers to Good Friday’s cries for crucifixion, we see the fickleness of humanity—and the faithfulness of our Savior.

Jesus didn’t just talk about love—He proved it through sacrifice. As the Good Shepherd, He laid down His life for His flock, offering us righteousness in exchange for our sin.

Now the choice is ours: will we follow Him only when it’s easy, or will we choose His way even when it costs us something?

Are you talking about God more than you’re talking to Him?   Prayer isn’t just a good habit — it’s your lifeline in spiritual warfare. When challenges hit, prayer transforms overwhelming battles into powerful victories. Stop letting anxiety dictate your response; there’s a better way!

In this message, we go into: How prayer shifts us from human limitations to God’s unlimited power. Why prayer should be our first response, not our last resort. What it means to “pray in the Spirit” and align with God’s will. How David’s example of morning, noon, and night prayer strengthens your spirit. The warning from the church of Ephesus about losing our first love. Why consistent, Spirit-led prayer keeps you standing strong against enemy attacks.

What if you could explain the most life-changing message in just a few clear, powerful words? This video unpacks the Great Exchange—where Jesus traded His righteousness for our sinfulness—offering forgiveness, freedom, and new life to anyone who believes.

Rooted in Romans 1:16, we stand unashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to all who believe.

We’ll explore how to overcome fear with humility and clarity, and how to confidently share your faith—without being pushy or awkward. Whether you’re a new believer or a seasoned follower of Christ, this is for you.

In “Good News,” we examine the simplicity and power of the gospel. What IS the gospel, and why is it good news? What happens when people complicate it and add to it? We’ll learn how the gospel empowers us to live extraordinary lives now while preparing for eternity. And importantly, we’ll learn how to share the life-giving message of Jesus with others.

What’s the difference between being covered and being cleansed? In this message from our Good News series, Larry McCall takes us on a vivid journey from the Garden of Eden to the cross of Christ. Through sacrifice, blood, and centuries of foreshadowing, we uncover why Jesus didn’t just cover our sin—He removed it once and for all. You’ll never look at the gospel the same way again.

In this sermon, Cynthia reminds us that while salvation is a gift we can’t earn, following Jesus isn’t passive. It’s a calling—one that takes effort, obedience, and sacrifice.

You won’t work your way into heaven, but if Christ lives in you, it should look like something. From Philippians 2 to real-life stories of faith and surrender, this message will step on your toes—in the best way.

If someone accused you of being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?

In this message, Cynthia challenges us to live lives that prove the life of Christ is in us. “Proof of Life” isn’t about religious talk or performance—it’s about real transformation. From her own raw testimony to the powerful truths of Scripture, Cynthia reminds us that the gospel isn’t just something we believe—it’s something we become.

What if the version of the gospel you’re living… isn’t the gospel at all?

This week’s message is a bold and heartfelt wake-up call about what the gospel truly is and what it’s not. Pastor Josh goes into Paul’s letter to the Galatians, exposing how easy it is to drift from the simplicity of the good news into performance-driven faith. From fake news peddled by modern belief systems to the subtle religious mindsets we pick up in church, this message will both challenge and encourage you to anchor your identity in Christ alone.

Are you living as a slave or as a child of God?

You are not an employee in God’s kingdom. You are not hired help trying to keep your spot. You are His child. This message from Pastor Juan Sanchez is a bold and beautiful reminder that the law was never meant to be a finish line — it was always a signpost pointing us to Jesus. Straight from Galatians, we are reminded that we don’t earn our way in, we are invited in. Not because we got it all right, but because Jesus already did.

What do you do when life does not go as planned? When disappointment, failure, or even spiritual burnout make you want to give up and go back to what you knew before? In this message, Pastor Josh takes us deep into Galatians 4 to ask a simple but soul-stirring question: Why do we go back when we’ve already been set free? Whether it is old habits, a religious mindset, or just a broken view of God’s love, this message reminds us that the Gospel is not about earning approval — it is about responding to a love that was never based on performance in the first place.

What if the fruit in your life is not the goal, but the byproduct? In this week’s message, Larry McCall shares an honest and heartfelt word about what it really looks like to live out the Gospel. Not with surface-level effort or performative faith, but with fruit that grows from the inside out—fruit like character, compassion, and faithfulness. Through John 15 and his own hard-won testimony, Larry brings the reminder that fruit is not something we can manufacture. It’s something only Jesus can grow in us when we stay connected to Him.

What if God’s big plan to reach the world… is you? That’s what this message is all about. Not your pastor. Not a platform. You. Your life, your words, your response to pressure, fatigue, criticism, and everyday moments. In this message, Pastor Josh pulls back the curtain on what it really means to live the gospel — not just preach it, but embody it. We’re not just saved from something — we’re saved for something.

What does it really mean to proclaim the gospel and not just live it? In this message from our Good News series, Pastor Josh walks us through 2 Timothy 4 with clarity, humor, and conviction, reminding us that the call to share the gospel isn’t just for preachers, it’s for all of us. Whether you’re introverted, unsure of your giftings, or just wondering how to talk about Jesus without sounding weird, this message is for you.

What if the most powerful way to share the gospel isn’t a perfect argument but a personal experience? In this message, Pastor Josh closes out our Good News series by unpacking the story of the Samaritan woman and her unforgettable encounter with Jesus. It’s not just a story about wells and water — it’s about shame, identity, and what happens when you realize the Messiah knows your whole story… and still offers you living water.

This week’s message reminds us that your story matters. Whether you’re fresh off your own encounter with Jesus or wondering what you still need to leave at the well, there’s room in this story for you.

What if the middle of the year is actually the moment to start again?

In this message, Pastor Josh takes us into one of the most emotional scenes in David’s life— Ziklag. Everything is in ruins. The people closest to him are ready to stone him. And yet, somehow, David doesn’t break. He strengthens himself in the Lord.

This isn’t just a sermon about endurance. It’s about real life. Real emotions. Real setbacks. And a real God who meets us right in the middle of it.

What if the next generation didn’t just inherit our world, but our faith? Proverbs 22:6 calls us to guide them onto the right path and Judges 2 warns what happens when we don’t. This message is a rally cry to believe in today’s youth, call out their God-given potential, and invest in them like the future depends on it… because it does.

At Church on the Rock, we’ve been praying Psalm 143:10: “Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing.” As part of our discipleship journey, The MOVE, we believe following God’s will means defending and uplifting “the least of these.” Poverty’s deepest wound isn’t hunger, it’s hopelessness. But through local churches, Compassion International is releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name by meeting physical needs and introducing them to the gospel.

This message isn’t about charity — it’s about discipleship. We learn how each of us can provide food, clean water, education, and medical care, while also building a real relationship with a child through letters and updates.

What if the difference between a wise life and a wasted one comes down to a single word: discipline?

In this message from Proverbs 1, we kick off our series Wise Up by digging into what Scripture says about wisdom, discipline, and what it really means to be a disciple. Solomon calls us to seek wisdom and discipline, not just to know about God’s Word but to live it out daily. Jesus echoes the same in Matthew 7: the wise don’t just hear His words; they do them, building lives that can withstand any storm.

What does it really mean to fear the Lord? In this sermon from our Wise Up series at Church on the Rock, Larry McCall unpacks Proverbs 1:7 and shows that the fear of the Lord isn’t about terror or dread — it’s about reverence, awe, and recognizing God’s majesty. Drawing from Proverbs, Colossians, and the words of Jesus, Larry points us back to Christ as the foundation of wisdom.

What if the wisest decision you could ever make wasn’t about what you do but about who you are becoming? In this message, Pastor Josh takes us into Proverbs 4 with a clear, practical reminder: wisdom isn’t automatic, it has to be pursued. He unpacks how Solomon’s words show us that wisdom is something you can go after, and it comes through God’s Word and through the right people in your life.

Life brings loss, trials, and plenty of reasons to lose heart, but God calls us to respond differently. In this message from Church on the Rock, Cynthia reminds us that even in the face of suffering, tragedy, and a culture that celebrates anger, we are called to anchor ourselves in the wisdom of God’s Word.

Life comes at us with pressures of finances, unexpected challenges, and the temptation to look for security in what we have instead of who holds us. In this message from Wise Up: Wise Wallets, Pastor Josh reminds us from Proverbs 3 and Matthew 6 that the heart of the matter isn’t about money, buildings, or stuff. It’s about where our trust lies. God isn’t against us having things, but He is against things having us. True wisdom means seeking first His kingdom, putting Him in the first place of our hearts, and finding satisfaction and security in Jesus alone.

When God created work, it wasn’t a punishment, it was part of His original design. Before sin entered the world, Adam was given purpose, creativity, and calling. In this message, Pastor Josh reminds us that we don’t work for rest, we work from it. Whether you’re in an office, on a job site, at home raising kids, or serving in church, your work is worship. God invites us to see our everyday labor as holy ground, a place to reflect His image and impact the world around us.

Through teaching, humor, and real-life stories, this sermon calls us to reject laziness, embrace purpose, and recognize that God has uniquely placed each of us where we are for a reason.

What happens when you stop trying to lead your own life and finally let God take the reins? In this week’s message, Walk Humbly, Pastor Josh Hersey takes us deep into James 4 and Philippians 2, reminding us that real strength begins with surrender. It’s a call to drop pride, trust the One who knows best, and let His gracious Spirit lead us forward on firm footing. Through powerful teaching, honest moments, and a story about a high-school football lesson that turned into a life-changing revelation, you’ll see that humility isn’t weakness… it’s the secret to victory.

When God speaks, do we truly obey… or just do most of what He said? In this week’s message, Walk Obediently, Pastor Josh Hersey takes us into 1 Samuel 15, where Saul learns the hard truth that partial obedience is still disobedience. From monuments to ourselves to moments where we justify “good” choices that aren’t God’s choices, this message gets real about the gap between our intentions and true surrender.

In a world that says “do what feels right,” this message flips the script. What if the way forward in your faith isn’t about getting more but giving more? Pastor Josh walks through Romans 12 and the call to walk sacrificially, to present our lives as a living offering to God. Through powerful stories, laughter, and conviction, he shows how sacrifice is not loss but worship, how God’s way always leads to a firmer footing, and how one person’s obedience can change generations.

When Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also,” He wasn’t talking about money, He was talking about order. In this message, Pastor Josh Hersey walks through what it means to walk orderly in every area of life, especially in how we handle what God’s given us. From Mark 12 to Matthew 6, from creation to Cain and Abel, we see a clear pattern: God is first, God went first, and God requires first. When we put Him in His rightful place, everything else finds its rhythm again.

When we talk about generosity, it’s never just about money. It’s about trust. In this message, Pastor Josh teaches how returning the tithe and giving offerings are not transactions but transformations. We don’t give to get; we give because everything already belongs to God. Psalm 24 says, “The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it.” When we see ourselves not as owners but as stewards, it changes how we live, how we lead, and how we love.

What happens when a Sunday sermon turns into a sit down conversation between a Lead Pastor and the man who started it all? Today’s service at Church on the Rock looks a little different in the best way. Join Lead Pastor Josh Hersey and Founding Pastor Tom Outley for a powerful and personal conversation filmed right from our podcast studio. Pastor Tom shares his raw salvation story, the miracles behind how Church on the Rock began, and the quiet steps of obedience that shaped thirty three years of ministry.

This Sunday at Church on the Rock, we step back into an honest and life-giving conversation between Lead Pastor Josh Hersey and Founding Pastor Tom Outley. Last week we looked at how the church began, and today we focus on something just as important, the heart Pastor Tom carried for the next generation. Pastor Josh shares how Pastor Tom saw potential long before anyone else did and how he created space for young leaders to learn, grow, and discover their calling. The stories are real, personal, and full of the kind of wisdom that comes from decades of serving the Lord with a willing heart.

In this first message of our Christmas series Why So Merry?, we look at Mary’s moment in Luke 1 when she felt confused and disturbed. Christmas is full of lights, food, movies, and all the things we enjoy, but it is also full of real life. Some are celebrating while others are carrying grief, tension, anxiety, or unanswered questions. Pastor Josh shows how Mary teaches us to respond to God instead of reacting to everything around us. Even when life feels messy or unclear, God is present and moving.

Sometimes Christmas looks like lights and laughter and mistletoe, and sometimes it brings the parts of life we do not talk about until we have to. In this message we take a deeper look at Joseph and discover what to do when relationships are complicated, tension rises, and you feel the pull to react instead of respond.
