Heart Not Hustle | From the Vine

IN THIS SERIES

What if the Christian life was never meant to be powered by trying harder? In this message, Pastor Josh opens the series From the Vine by walking through John 15 and the words of Jesus, “I am the vine, you are the branches.” Too often, we make the goal of faith about producing fruit, fixing ourselves, proving ourselves, or showing God we are doing enough. But Jesus points us to something deeper and better. The focus is not striving for fruit. The focus is remaining in Him.

In John 15, Jesus tells us that He is the vine and we are the branches. The goal of the Christian life is not to grit our teeth, try harder, and force ourselves to produce fruit. The goal is to remain connected to Him. When we abide in Jesus, the Holy Spirit begins to produce the character of Christ in us, not because we are perfect, but because we are learning to follow Him one step at a time.

In this message, Pastor Josh continues the From The Vine series by looking at the road between two dangerous ditches: religion and rebellion. Religion makes faith all about rules, rebellion makes life all about us, but relationship keeps us walking with Jesus. Through John 15, Psalm 143, Galatians 5, and Philippians 2, we are reminded that God is not asking us to manufacture spiritual fruit on our own. He is inviting us to trust His Spirit, surrender every part of our lives, and let Him lead us forward on firm footing.

This message looks at the tension every follower of Jesus feels. We are saved by grace, not by works, but we are still called to walk in the good works God prepared for us. So how do we take real steps without turning discipleship into religious activity? How do we grow without making it all about ourselves? From John 15, Galatians 5, Acts 2, Colossians 2, and Ephesians 2, this message is a reminder that every step matters when every step is taking us closer to the Vine.

What if spiritual growth is not something you force, but something that happens as you stay connected to Jesus? In this message from our From the Vine series, we continue in John 15 and look at what it really means to abide in Christ. The work of the disciple is not to manufacture fruit, strive harder, or earn the love of God. The work of the disciple is to remain connected to the source of life, and from that place, the Holy Spirit produces the fruit of God’s character in us.

Through John 15, Genesis 1, Galatians 5, Isaiah 14, and 2 Peter 1, this message explores what it means to be created in the image of God, to receive His divine nature, and to grow in a life that looks more like Jesus. Whether you are learning how to follow Jesus, trying to understand spiritual growth, or longing to reconnect with God in a deeper way, this message is an invitation to stop striving and start abiding. Stay close to Jesus, let Him shape your heart, and discover the kind of life only He can produce.
